The only apparent lasting link with the historic training ship today is the small Tingira Memorial Park on Sydney's Rose Bay waterfront. But a ship's bell marked 'Sobraon' ended up in a South Coast museum and trainees at W.A's Fremantle naval training base HMAS Leeuwin from 1960-1984 wore 'Tingira' shoulder flashes to honour the memory of the RAN's first training ship.

The HMAS Tingira was a Navy training vessel Moored off the shores of Rose Bay from 1912 to 1927. The ship and its crew are remembered on the site. HMAS Tingira was a training ship operated by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) between 1911 and 1927. Alexander Hall & Co. built the ship in Scotland in 1866 as the passenger clipper Sobraon; she was the largest composite-hull sailing vessel ever built.

HMAS Tingira, often called The Cradle of the R.A.N., lay in the middle of Rose Bay from 25th April 1912 until 1927 as a training ship for lower deck new entries.. In 1963, the Tingira Old Boys Association, with the blessing of the Woollahra Council, erected a small memorial to the ship in the park on the eastern corner of Vickery Avenue.
